The day I realized that the baby voice was the new norm, I was so used to it that I was afraid, I might embarrass myself by using it at an unexpected place. He smiles at the unexpected things that I do. I find myself wearing a proud smile; I'm doing it right. I also realized that no one is going to appreciate the tireless efforts of a mother but this little one flattering me with a smile.

The day he was born was a mix of emotions we never had. Physically I literally had no feeling as the anesthesia did its work rightly but emotionally my head was in turmoil. The guilt of not doing well enough to have a vaginal birth, the ecstasy of hearing the first cry, and the anxiety of how I was going to raise this tiny little treasure.   And the journey began that day, I believe in learning to be a better human. To learn compassion, patience, and understanding. Every day, I'm surprised at myself as I expand my limits in loving this little human. These emotions swell in my heart and I want to cherish these feelings well, and one day perhaps my boy will know how beautiful our journey together was.
